It's a beautiful day but I'm staring at the wall
Cause nothing any more makes any sense to me at all
If it's true the more you know the less you understand
It's time I got my head out of the clouds and stuck it in the sand
When you've tried and you've tried but your life is still a mess
And there are far too many things for you to ever address
It's time to polish up your winning smile and dress for success
And get out there and do whatever you can can
It's always risk to benefit
Just simple risk to benefit
Everyday risk to benefit, benefit...
They say if you're dissatisfied with your lot
To pull your finger out, it's up to you, you've got
To go out there at get it, make the best of the rub
So I bought myself a newspaper and took it to the pub
There's a position vacant in the local classified
For which I know I'm eminently qualified
But it'll take me all bloody day and night to apply
And the wear and tear on my mind is just not worth it
It's always risk to benefit
Yeah basic risk to benefit
Rudimentary risk to benefit, benefit...
That night I was feeling undervalued, bored, tired and alone
I said it's time to take myself out of my comfort zone
So I put on my best suit and said "what the heck"
And made my way down to the local discotheque
And there she was, the coolest thing I ever did see
And she's standing over there and now she's staring at me
You know even if we married we statistically
Would end up right back at where we began-gan-gan
It's always risk to benefit
Fundamental risk to benefit

So I go out for a little jog just trying to clear my mind
When some guy in DayGlo tries to leave me behind
So I leave him for dead just to prove I could
No, I don't want to want to win but it feels so good
You see I, I have this feeling that just won't go away
It's becoming unbecoming of a man of my age
And it's getting worse and worse the less I care what they say
And I'm running out of people I don't need to prove wrong

This is as good as the officially released WRNTDP titles on CIS. Very pleased to pick it up, where the pieces here are longer than most on the records they benefit from the slow unwinding they are afforded. The 18 minute live set excerpt is particularly immersive. Wouldn't be the worst idea in the world to release this on vinyl as a companion to the inevitable repressing of This Nation's Most Central Location. Great stuff. Oh and you get a cool magazine to read as well. Awesome.
